On 18 September 2015, Belgium published a new Royal Arrêté which is aimed at protecting the systems of collection, transport and treatment of domestic and urban waste water as well as protecting the environment.
Included in the scope are all types on wipes including Baby Wipes, Cosmetic Wipes, Surface Wipes and Moist Toilet Tissue.
The Arrêté specifies the criteria wipes must achieve in order to be flushable. For wipes which can not be flushed a logo is required. Belgium is currently the only member State which has published a law establishing mandatory requirements to indicate that a product is not flushable.
